The Millerstown Brass Band
By Laws
Article 1st
This Band Shall be known by the name style and title of the Millerstown Brass
Band.
Article 2nd
It
Shall be composed of those persons who have already consented to become members.
Sec. 2nd And hereafter all applicants who whish to become members
must be proposed by some members of the Band, and regularly elected by a
majority of the members present.
Article 3rd
Sec. 1. The Officers Shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary and
Treasurer, who Shall be elected semi annually separately, by ballot.
Sec 2. The President Shall preside at all meetings of the Band, preside orders,
decide upon all questions in dispute, give the casting vote in all elections. He
shall sign all orders in the Treasurer for such money as by a vote of the Band
shall be ordered to be paid, call special meetings, enforce all penalties,
appoint committees etc.
Article 4th
The Vice President if required shall assist the President, and in his absent
preside at the meetings of the Band, and perform such duties as are required to
be performed by the President.
Article 5th
The Secretary
Shall keep accurate minutes of the proceedings of the Band, fill up all orders,
receive all moneys and pay the same unto the treasurer.
Sec. 2. Keep a list of the members. Call the role, make the absentees;
Article 6th
The Treasurer
Shall receive from the Secretary all money collected by him, giving his receipt
for the Same reported quarterly or at any other time if requested so to do.
Sec. 2. Pay all orders directed to be paid by the President and Secretary, at
the expiration of his term of Office pay all money, notes to his successor.
Article 7th
The stated meetings of the Band shall be held every evening commencing at _ o
clock from April to October, and
at _ o
clock from October to April.
Article 8th
Sec. 1st. In case a member wishes to leave or withdraw his name from
the Band, without providing a Substitute of whom the Band will accept, forfeits
the amount he has paid towards the Band as well as his Instrument unless the
majority of the Members see proper to refund him a part or the whole of it.
Article 9th
Any member or members who conduct themselves improperly or immorally, become
intoxicated on any occasion which the Band participates, Shall be reported at
the next meeting of the Band and if they by a majority of votes cast consider
the offence sufficient, declare him expelled, in which case he forfeits all he
has paid towards the Band.
Article 10th
If
invited to attend any Political or other meeting of a public nature, we agree to
attend such meetings for the Sum of $21.00 and the expenses paid, within twelve
miles of Millerstown, over and above twelve miles for the amount that the Band
may decide upon.
Sec. 2. In case
any member absents himself from attending any public meting, at which the Band
attends, unless he has an acceptable excuse, be fined $2.00. If a Member absent
from any regular meetings without a Sufficient excuse he will be fined 12-1/2
cents.
Article 11th
All persons signing the constitution are to pay five dollars are then considered
members, and come under the above regulations.
Article 12th
A
Court of Appeal Shall be held every two months at the place and time appointed
by the officers.
Article 13th
The By-laws may from time to time be
altered or amended which must be proposed in writing at a stated meeting of the
Band at least one meeting previous to the night which it is acted on, nor Shall
it then be altered or amended unless by a vote of two thirds of the members.
